COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND SPECIAL INITIATIVES
The Community Organizing team offers FREE programming for our older community members and caregivers to reflect on family and community needs and self determine how to respond to them. Each program is meant to build supportive relationships among participants to reimagine our world, implement new or remixed ideas, and practice collaboration.

BX FARM TO TABLE SERIES
Oct. 28, Nov. 18, Dec. 16, (Winter and Spring dates TBA)
Tune in every month to learn and reconnect with delicious ways to use Bronx grown, in season produce. Guest chefs and makers will create culturally relevant, healthy meals and other nourishing goods (e.g. shea butter and home made medicines) live with our community. Open to all DreamYard Community Members. Sessions occur Monthly on Fridays from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.

PARENT ADVOCACY GROUP

The Parent Advocacy Group will meet to build supportive relationships amongst parents and guardians and to support each other in advocating for their children’s educational and social-emotional needs. We will brainstorm the environment we wish to see our children learn in, identify barriers to those dreams and concerns with the current educational environment. In assessing what we desire for our children, where we’re at in attaining/manifesting those dreams, and naming what other resources we need, we will develop projects to help us realize those dreams and combat barriers. For any parents or family members of school aged students
BX POWER! TEACH-IN SERIES

This 4 part series invites our entire community to learn and dialogue about the systems we live and participate in, their origin stories, their impact on our quality of life, and how we might engage them, revise them, or dismantle them. Each workshop will encourage you to continue to demystify these systems through curiosity, research, and working with other community members. Sessions occur Quarterly on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
Public Works: Shakespeare and Activism
Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 30 , Dec. 7, Dec. 14 | 6:30 – 8:30PM on Zoom (link will be sent after signing up)
Focused on how Shakespeare can help build confidence and improve your persuasive speech to advocate for change, the class will meet weekly over Zoom beginning October 26 through December 14 and will be taught by amazing actor and Teaching Artist Anthony Vaughn Merchant. We will have a second 7-week class for DreamYard in the Spring.
