Based on the core values of Create, Connect, Nurture, and Activate and aligned with the NYC Department of Education’s Blueprint for the Arts and the NY State Learning Standards, DreamYard’s programs encourage young people to pursue educational pathways toward higher learning, creative careers, and social action.
DreamYard recognizes the importance of striving for an increasingly comprehensive approach to our work within community. We actively listen to our students and the community at large to understand their concerns and ideas for how we can improve our work as a Community Based Organization. This feedback informs DreamYard programs.
200 in-school art residencies across 40+ public schools serving more than 10,000 students annually and connecting Bronx students to other students across the globe through our International Poetry Exchange Program.
High-quality arts instruction, community art initiatives, college readiness, leadership development, and social-emotional supports offered after school, on weekends, and throughout the Summer to over 2,000 K-12th graders.
Offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that includes AP classes, SAT prep, art majors, and options for international travel.
Paid career readiness programs—serving over 350 high school and college students, annually—that increase access to and equity within Creative Career Pathways across New York City.
FREE gaming and entrepreneurship classes and events that bring together an intergenerational group of creatives across the Bronx.
FREE programming for our older community members and caregivers to reflect on family and community needs and self-determine how to respond to them.
A network of Educators, School Admin, & Teaching Artists that participate in an array of artistic, educational, social justice, and racial equity skill-building activities that enhance the work they do within our schools.
DreamYard’s annual culminating student art festival held in May and features performances and art from students and Teaching Artists across all DY programs.
Each year, DreamYard’s Professional Development Department creates an imperative for our year that informs all programs and classes.
