The beginning of the year can bring about a lot of pressure to make extreme changes to one’s diet in an effort to be more healthy or change our bodies. European foodways are often centered in these conversations as the route to being the most healthy and nutritious, however this is a false and harmful narrative. During this workshop we’ll reconnect with just a few of the myriad ways that African and Indigenous foodways are nutritious for our minds, bodies, and spirits. We’ll do this by learning about and engaging with sweet potatoes, greens, spices, and herbs to prepare a deliciously, nutritious winter soup. Recipes, substitutions, and prep for the workshop will be sent out to registered participants beforehand.
