IN SCHOOL FULL RESIDENCIES
Our In School Residencies are a collaboration between DreamYard Teaching Artists and DOE teachers to integrate social justice arts education into the core curriculum. Using the arts as a dynamic tool to examine and facilitate curriculum, teachers, staff and students leverage imagination and critical thinking for individual and collective transformation.
IN SCHOOL RESIDENCIES INCLUDE:
- 30 Sessions: 90 min. each session. Start in October through May
- Weekly Partner Planning: TA + Teaching Partner meet to plan sessions
- Welcome + Kick Off Day: Teaching Partners + Teaching Artists build
community, collaborate, and develop a vision for a dynamic partnership
- Materials Budget and Social Justice Curriculum
- 2 Student Culminating Events
- Participation in DreamFest: Eligible to participate in our Bronx-wide arts
festival at Lehman College and Andrew Freedman Home
AFTER SCHOOL RESIDENCIES
In depth exploration of the art form through a social justice lens and a platform for students to build community, collaborate with a professional artist, and use their work to “talk back” to the world.
AFTER SCHOOL RESIDENCIES INCLUDE:
- 60 Sessions: 90 min. each session
- Materials Budget and Social Justice Curriculum
- 2 Student Culminating Events
- Participation in DreamFest: Eligible to participate in our Bronx-wide arts festi val at Lehman College and Andrew Freedman Home
IN SCHOOL HALF RESIDENCIES
Collaborate with a classroom teacher to integrate social justice arts education into the core curriculum. || Minimum commitment of two per partner ||
IN SCHOOL HALF RESIDENCIES INCLUDE:
- 30 Sessions: 45 min. each session. Start in October through May
- Weekly Partner Planning: TA + Teaching Partner meet weekly to plan sessions
- Welcome + Launch Day: Teaching Partners and Teaching Artists meet
to build community, collaborate, and share their vision for a dynamic
partnership
- Materials Budget and Social Justice Curriculum
- 2 Student Culminating Events
- Participation in DreamFest: Eligible to participate in our Bronx-wide arts
festival at Lehman College and Andrew Freedman Home
FAMILY WORKSHOPS
DreamYard Teaching Artists can facilitate a variety of cultural performances, activities, or experiences geared towards parents, students or staff members at partnering schools. Workshops are a great way for your wider school community to engage in art making through a social justice lens. The experience builds community as well as gives insight into how art is a tool for healing, activation, and liberation.
FAMILY WORKSHOPS INCLUDE:
- 90 min session with the Teaching Artist(s)
- Materials Budget
- Social Justice Arts Curriculum
- Up to 25 participants
- Light refreshments
