DreamYard's Rad(ical) Poetry Consortium is a two day-long institute that honors the poet as a member of community; it is for poets for whom community is an integral part of their work, both on the page and off. Faculty - José Olivarez & Aracelis Girmay - will lead participants through generative & transformative workshops that will couch the poem & poet in community (context, lineage, canon, etc.). With Shira Erlichman, Marwa Helal, Vincent Toro & Ama Codjoe there will be workshops on form as rad(ical) practice and workshops on & rooted in rad(ical) pedagogy, all workshops including some generative aspect. Throughout the two days there will be plentiful opportunity to connect & build with your fellow fellows, to share work, ideas, trajectories, bochinche, favorite poems, favorite tunes. The first day will end with a pizza party & open-mic at DreamYard, and the second day will end in a public event (location tbd) in which fellows & faculty will be invited to read their work.
The cost is set at $300 for the two days of workshops (meals included), though we are working to provide as much scholarship funding as we can - there will be at least one scholarship for a Bronx-based poet.
