Our collaborative partnership model builds on the knowledge and skills of teachers and their classroom communities. Using the arts as a dynamic tool to examine and facilitate curriculum, teachers, staff, and students leverage imagination and critical thinking for individual and collective transformation.
In School Programs place professional artist-educators in over 200 residencies at more than 45 Bronx public schools each year, combining standards-based arts instruction with social justice pedagogy via two different year-long program models:
A 30 week collaboration between a classroom teacher and a Teaching Artist to integrate social justice art education into the core curriculum.
A DreamYard Teaching Artist leads students through an in-depth, 30 week exploration of the art form through a social justice lens.
