BPP - What We Do

Guest Teachers

Once a month outstanding guests poets are invited to lead a master class for the group, and a community audience. Participants:

• Are led through a variety of writing exercises to explore different styles and acquire knowledge of literary terms and poetic devices.

• Hear the guest poet read his/her original work, inspire participants and show them different performance techniques.

• Participants are exposed to the various  ways people use poetry in their careers and lives

Open Mics

Several times a year, BPP hosts an open mic for poets of all ages to take the stage and share original work, favorite poems, monologues and other creative writing.

• We strive to offer a safe and supportive atmosphere for participants and guests to present and be inspired.

• The open mic is open to all BPP participants, their friends, families, and other community members.

Publications

Participants publish an annual booklet that:

• Catalogs the group’s collective and individual writing throughout the year.

• Engages participants in a deep process of revision, as well as evaluation and reflection of themselves and their pieces.
