Read Armani's firsthand account of his visit to the Art Center.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg hailed this incredible support: "Giorgio Armani doesn't just believe in New York's bright future... he's committed to making it a reality." The mayor continued in his address, to say that the Art Center is run by "DreamYard - a non-profit that's worked with us to improve arts education in our schools... [This donation is] going to make a big difference in the lives of so many of our children."
Mr. Armani and Caroline Kennedy were given a tour of the Art Center by ten DreamYard students, who recited poetry, discussed their filmwork, and spoke about how DreamYard has impacted their lives. Afterward, Mrs. Kennedy remarked: "the Bronx is an especially underserved area... Students who live there rarely have a chance to experience the cultural richness of New York City, yet among them are unbelievably talented young artists, poets and writers who are the future fashion designers, musicians and entrepreneurs of this city."
Both Mr. Armani and Mrs. Kennedy promised to come back again and visit the Art Center soon.
