About DreamYard
Partnerships
Bank Street College of Education
The Bank Street educational philosophy
relies heavily upon an interactive approach to teaching and learning.
DreamYard is partnering with the Bank Street College to conduct staff
development. The central goal of this process is to actively involve the
learner and cultivate interaction between all members of the partnership in
order to create an environment where arts education is valued. Eileen Wasow
and Fern Kahn at the Bank Street College led a staff
development and curriculum integration institute for DreamYard at Wave Hill
in the summer of 1997. Fran Schwartz will continue to consult with DreamYard
on an evaluation begun in 1997 assessing DreamYard programs through the 2004
school year.

Lehman College and Lehman College Stages
DreamYard has partnered with
Lehman College and Lehman College Stages for the past four years in an
effort to provide our students with a community-based venue to share their
stories and art. DreamYard students visited and shared work at both Lehman
College's arts and theater facilities. DreamYard and Lehman College Stages
helped produce the Community Region 1 theater festival this past June. Open
to elementary and middle schools from the entire district, the festival
enables students to have a high-profile professional theater experience that
extends to their families participation and support.

Wave Hill
Our A.C.T.I.O.N. Project students will partake in a forest
enchantment project on the Wave Hill property during the summer for several
days. During the year our students will be involved in one of the local
community garden clean-ups that take place on Saturdays during the fall and
possibly create an art piece in the garden.
